Percolation Testing
|
In areas where municipal sewer mains are not available, home builders must apply for a private sewage disposal system. A necessary phase of this application is the percolation test, conducted by a licensed engineer or geologist. The percolation test determines the rate of permeability of soil or rock, which itself is controlled by geologic factors. Based on percolation rates, a proper disposal system can be designed. In addition, in recent years regulatory agencies have required large building sites to channel surface runoff into the local aquifer, which also requires percolation testing. AES performs this service, usually in conjunction with another related service, such as a geotechnical investigation. |
